DEATH OF LORD BELHAVEN AND STENTON.
It is with regret, that we announce the death of Lord Belhaven and Stenton, which took Place on Wednesday morning at his Edinburgh residence, Hamilton Lodge, Grange. His lordship has been in failing health for some time, having caught a chill last autumn. Born in 1822, Lord Belhaven was a son of Mr Archibald Hamilton, surgeon, 92nd Regiment. Upon the death of the eighth Lord Belhaven in 1860, he succeeded to the title, and a few years later he succeeded to the Wishaw estates. Lord Belhaven, being of a retiring disposition, did not came much before the public, but he took a warm interest nevertheless in Scottish affairs, and was an attached member of the Church of Scotland. Lord Belhaven was married in 1877 to Georgina, fourth daughter of Mr John Watson of Earnock, and is survived by Lady Belhaven and seven daughters. [3]
