Said by researcher Sid SMITH, to be the daughter of Alexander HAMILTON & Agnes CROOKSHANK, born 8 Feb 1773, in St Andrews & St Leonards, Fife, Scotland.
However, I had failed to find her in the Kilrenny parish registers; and I noted that ... there was a birth 1 August 1770, baptised 23 Sept 1770 of a male child HAMILTON in Anstruther Wester, parents Robt. HAMILTON & Margret MELLVILE [IGI]. I can’t help feeling this is a better match for a family for "our" Agnes married in Kilrenny???
Regardless, "our" Agnes married James SMITH in Kilrenny in 1796, and the marriage information in the parish registers say she was "from the parish of Crail" (a neighbouring village).
They had at least seven children. Sid SMITH (whose research is quoted as source for some of the earlier ancestors) descends from their son, John (born 1803); and the line of O'Brien-6991 descends from daughter Agnes (born 1806).
