Biography
Hugh was born October 31, 1895[1] in Canterbury, New Brunswick. He was a son of Hugh Alfred Hamilton and Ella May (English) Hamilton.[2][3]
He was a farmer in Canterbury at the time of his marriage, on June 28, 1922, to Myrtle Ella Cunningham. She was a daughter of Andrew Hamilton Cunningham and Eliza (Wilson) Cunningham.[2]
Hugh passed away on April 19, 1939 in Canterbury and is interred at Canterbury, New Brunswick.[4]
Research Notes
Hugh was Anglican according to his marriage record, which means he is likely buried at the Canterbury Cemetery rather than the Roman Catholic Cemetery in Canterbury. Those are the only two cemeteries in the area. There is no record on Find-A-Grave or at the Provincial Archives to confirm his burial other than his death certificate, which simply indicates he is buried in Canterbury.
According to the death certificate, he was the son of James Hamilton and - Cunningham, both born in Ireland. The informant was Ray or Roy Hamilton, a son.
