Andrew Hamilton was born on January 17, 1772 in Abbeville, Abbeville, Province of South Carolina, son of Audley Hamilton (1738–1809) and Eleanor Shankley (1746–1809).^[1]

Andrew married Margaret Gunn (born about August, 1782 in Virginia; daughter of William Gunn). Their daughter was Adaline Tyrell Hamilton (1820–1906).

Andrew died on October 1, 1849 in Pickens, Pickens, South Carolina, United States, aged 77.^[1]
