James George Hamilton, 7th Duke of Hamilton (1755-1769) was the son of James Hamilton, 6th Duke of Hamilton and Elizabeth Gunning, Baroness Hamilton of Hameldon

He succeeded his father as 7th Duke of Hamilton on 17 January 1758, and he succeeded his cousin as 4th Marquess of Douglas on 21 July 1761.

The 12 year-old Duke challenged the entail of the property of Archibald Douglas, 1st Duke of Douglas to his nephew Archibald Douglas.

Death

This appears to be the same Sir George James Hamilton that is Inscripted on the Monument...

He died on 7 July 1769 at age 14 at Hamilton Palace, Hamilton, Scotland, from a fever, the same day the House of Lords ruled against his claim to the Douglas estate.
