Notes for Alexander HAMILTON: His wife Martha Parks died on 12th April 1875 at Ballybay. They both worshipped at the 2nd Ballybay Presbyterian Church. Their children were born at Ballybay. Alexander was a farmer in County Monaghan with a leased farm at Clougher near Ballybay. His sons helped on the farm. He was a staunch Presbyterian who died at age 86. Both he and his wife are buried at 2nd Ballybay Presbyterian Church cemetery. He had 8 boys and 3 girls, but 2 boys died very young. The next 2 boys born were given the same names. Two boys and one girl emigrated to Australia, and two boys emigrated to USA. It is very likely that his father was also named Alexander. No existing family has been located in Ireland to date, and the only photograph of children available is for Thomas. Most of the stated birth dates are for baptism dates from church records, while some are calculated from death dates. His will of 1890 left his estate to his son Alexander who was a on the farm at Clougher.
