Lemuel Boyd Hamlin was the son of Lemuel E. Hamlin and Emma Ramey.

Lemuel Boyd Hamlin or Boyd Lemuel Hamlin is born in Alabama according to 1810 Federal Census results. Familysearch.org gives birthplace as Massachusetts. His parents were married in Alabama, so I used that as a fact to determine birthplace. The other consideration is that his siblings who were born later are born in Massachusetts. His father Lemuel E. Hamlin is listed as a Confederate Veteran in 10th Alabama Co. who fought from 1861 until April 9th. 1865.
