Biography

Mary R. Hamlin was born in October 1884 in St. Louis, Missouri to Latham Hamlin and Eliza Shillinglaw.

In 1900, Mary, age 16, lived on Adams Street in St. Louis, Missouri with her parents and younger siblings - Florence, William and Latham. [1]

Mary married Arthur Joseph Schoppe on November 27, 1907. [2] In 1910, they and their infant son, Arthur, resided in the large St. Louis household of Joe and Lizzie (Elizabeth) Schoppe, Arthur's parents. [3]

In 1920, they lived in Webster Groves, St. Louis, Missouri with their two sons, Arthur and Francis, and a niece, Frances Nora Crowe, daughter of Florence Hamlin Crowe. Arthur was a superintendent for a printing company. [4]

In 1930, Mary and Arthur and their sons lived in Central, St. Louis, Missouri. A niece, Jane Schoppe, was a member of the household. Arthur owned and operated a print shop. [5] They lived on Providence Street in Jefferson Township, Webster Groves, St. Louis, in 1940. Their son, Francis, lived with them. [6]

Mary and Arthur observed their 50th Wedding Anniversary on November 28, 1957. [7]

Mary died on January 6, 1965 in St. Louis, Missouri, and was buried in Calvary Cemetery and Mausoleum in St. Louis. [8][9]
