Alice Hamlin (sic) daughter of Joseph Hamlin & Mercy Howland, was born 4 Feb 1705 in Barnstable, Barnstable, Massachusetts Bay, British Colonial America.[1]
Alice & John's intention to marry was recorded on 3 Aug 1728. [3]
John Howland married Alice Hamblen in 1728. He died in 1747 and she married 2) Samuel Hinckley 22 May 1748. John & Alice's children are listed as:
Desire born 15 Jun 1732, died Apr 1813; married Jonathan Bodfish(sp?) 3 May 1753
Susannah born 22 Dec 1734; married Ignatius Smith 21 Nov 1759

Jonathan (twin) born 8 Aug 1737, died 1812 in Sandwich
Deborah born 25 Oct 1739, married 1763 Richard Sparrow [4]

Research Notes
There is esentially the same information as in Otis in Howland's History of Arthur, Henry & John - marriage, children, dates - except it states:
John married Sarah Hinckley in 1748, instead of Alice married Samuel Hinkley that year.[6]
In the Barnstable Vital Records I found:
"Samuel Hinkley & Alice Howland 5 Apr 1746." [7] The problem is that we have John Howland's dod as 1747!
There is a findagrave listing for an Alice Hinckley who died 14 Jan 1781 and was buried in the Marstons Mills Cemetery in Marstons Mills, Barnstable County, Massachusetts. There is no additional information. [8]
There is a birth record for a Samuel Hinkley in Barnstable, Barnstable 24 Feb 1705 , son of Joseph & Mary Gorham. [9] According to Otis this Samuel died young.
There is another birth record for a Samuel Hinkley in Harwich, Barnstable 12 Feb 1710, son of Samuel & Mary. [10]This is repeated in Otis, v2, pg 40:
Samuel, born 12 Feb 1710/11, twin of Mary, who died in March 1710/11, was born to Samuel (1684) & Mary, daughter of Edmond, granddaughter of Major John Freeman (which implies her last name was Freeman).
He was their second son named Samuel, the first was born 15 Mar 1708/9. [4]
