He was over 6 foot and played basketball in high school. He received a basketball scholarship to college, but he wanted to work because he wanted to get married. He was a truck driver with his brother and then he married Helen Louise Chowning. I am their granddaughter. He was a wonderful grandfather. He died of a heart attack on Thanksgiving Day at dinner. It was very unexpected and he was young. He worked for Dayton Tire and Rubber and had a 20 acre farm on Engle Rd., in West Alexandria that he had bought when he was young. He raised tobacco for many years.
