Note: Peter M. Hammalian was born on March 11, 1869 in Armenia. He emmigrated to the USA in about 1888. He married Lucy in 1892. He appears in the 1900 census living on Poplar Ave. in Hackensack, New Jersey with his wife and daughter Lily and Estella. He was described as a photo engraver. He was naturalized in 1906.
In about 1909 the family moved across the country to central California. The 1910 census finds him farming with his family in Fresno, California, now with four children at home. He appears in the 1920 census in Madera, California with his family, fruit farming.
In about 1925 Peter and his wife moved to Oakland where he worked as a photo engraver for the Oakland Tribune. He died of myocarditis on May 21, 1929. He was buried in Mountain View Cemetery in Oakland, grave 964.
