Virginia Hamman was born at Top Not in Shenandoah County, Virginia, in 1912, oldest child and daughter of Ernest and Annie Blanche Orndorff Hamman, married Alfred Renner in 1938 and lived near Stephens City, Frederick County, Virginia for a number of years then moved to Strasburg, Virginia. Virginia was mother of six children and died in 1989.
