Paul (Hammann) Hamman migrated from Lachen, Germany to Virginia.
Paul Hammann was baptized at Lachen August 8, 1745 and was just a child when his parents left Germany and came to America. He grew up in York County, Pennsylvania, married in Frederick County, Maryland, and then settled in Shenandoah County, Virginia, where an older brother and sister had already settled.
He lived first in the North Mountain area near present-day Mount Olive, but then took up land on Stony Creek, about 20 miles further south. [1]
