Biography

Pernille was born in 1763 on Hammersland farm on Borgundøy in Fjelberg clerical district, Hordaland, Norway. She was the daughter of Ingebrigt Simonsen Hammersland and Signe Olsdatter. She married the soldier Halvor Svendsen (Børøy) Arnevik in 1791 in Fjelberg at the age of 28. She joined him at Arnevik farm on Halsnøy in Fjelberg, and they had eight children together there, at least one of whom died young. Pernille reportedly passed away in 1812 at age 49 (to confirm).

Research notes

Pernille reportedly died in 1812, but no record is found in the church records to confirm this date. Her husband remarried in 1817, so she certainly died before then, and at some point after her child was born in 1804. It would be unusual for her to not appear in the death records, but there is a hole in 1809 where no death records are available online for Fjelberg. The source of 1812 date needs to confirmed.

An Ancestry family tree reports two additional children:

1. Kari born in 1802; no record was found to support this; also it doesn't seem possible given the timing of the births of Halvor in mid 1801 and Sygnie in early 1803.
2. Synnøve born in 1804; no record was found to support this.
