Biography

Elliot Eldon Hammond was born in Sedalia, Pettis, Missouri on 5 June 1894, the son of D.D. Hammond and Sara Elliott[1]

In 1900, Elliot Hammond lived in Cedar Township, Pettis, Missouri, with David D. and Dora Hammond and 4 siblings. David was a farmer.[2]

In 1910, Elliot Hammond lived in Lindsey Ward 2, Benton, Missouri, with his father, D. D. Hammond, and his father's wife Bertha Hammond, and three siblings.[3]

When he registered for the World War 1 Draft on 5 June 1917, Elliott E. Hammond said he was 23 years old, born on 5 June 1894 in Sedalia, Pettis, Missouri. He was single and lived in Warsaw, Benton, Missouri, and worked as a section hand for the M.P.R.R.Co. (Missouri Pacific Railroad Company) in Warsaw. He was missing part of one hand.[4]

A Headstone Application for Military Veterans shows that Elliott enlisted in the 22 Ordnance Guard Co., Sedalia, on 1 Aug 1918 and on 3 March 1919. He was a Pvt., 1st Cl.[5]

Ethel Bailey of Council Bluffs, Iowa, and Elliott E. Hammond of Sedalia were married on 31 Dec 1920 in Pettis County, Missouri. The ceremony was performed by the Rev. C.S. Baird, Pastor of the Second Congregational Church.[6]

Elliott Eldon Hammond died on 3 May 1950 in Sedalia.[1] and was buried at the Memorial Park Cemetery, Sedalia, Pettis County, Missouri.[7] You can see a picture of his gravestone at FindAGrave.
