There is a Lowell, Orleans, Vermont, they may have never left Vermont, so is the 1860 Census referring to the right people? Is Ellen really Helen? There is no mention of their daughter Annie on the document.
John's first son, George Herbert, is listed in the Hammond Book as born in Craftsbury, Mass, but the town is in Vermont (and backed up as his birthplace on census records). Also it is located in Orleans County.
Also, his first child Annie is listed as being born in Coventry, Mass; but Coventry is also in Orleans County. So I suspect this is an error, as she was born no more than a year after John and his wife married, in Orleans County.
