The Hammond Genealogy book, published in 1894, mentions Ira as living at Cornish, New Hampshire, managing a farm for the Hon. Wm M. Evarts. [1] His daughter is living in this location in October 30, 1894, when she marries her husband, Henry C. Bagley. [11] (Note: Cornish is only 3 miles east of Windsor).

On April 17, 1903, Ira died in West Windsor, Windsor, Vermont, USA. He was 68 years, 2 months, and 16 days old. The cause of death was progressive spinal paralysis.[12]
