Norman Raymond Hammond was born in 1913 in Chatswood, New South Wales, Australia. He was the fifth son of Harold Hammond and Clara Albrecht. His middle name is possibly Robert rather than Raymond. [1] Soon afterward, the family moved to nearby Pymble.
Norman married Marie Massingham in 1934 in Chatswood South Methodist Church, Chatswood. [2]
They made their home in Wollstonecraft, overlooking Sydney Harbour.
Aged 71 years, he passed away on 5th June 1985 in New South Wales and is buried in Northern Suburbs Memorial Gardens, North Ryde. [3]
