Biography
Thomas Hammond. was born about 1798 at Ainderby Steeple, Northallerton, Yorkshire, England [1] and baptized on 13 October 1798 at Ainderby-Steeple, York, England [2]. His parents were Richard Hammond (abt.1760-abt.1851) and Ann Todd (abt.1760-) [2].
On 6 January 1827 he married Ellen Lofthouse (abt.1805-abt.1874) at Masham, North Yorkshire, England, United Kingdom [3].
On 18 October 1829 his son Henry was baptised at Masham, North Yorkshire, England, United Kingdom [4].
On 20 December 1827 his daughter Ann was baptised at Masham, North Yorkshire, England, United Kingdom. His occupation was given as Wool Comber. [5].
In 1841 he was Inn Keeper at the Nelson Inn, Market Place, West Side, Masham, North Yorkshire, England, United Kingdom. His wife Ellen and their six children; Ann, Henry, Elizabeth, Ellen, Jane, and Thomas lived with them. Thomas had only just been born. There were six other resisidents, all 20 apart from Ellen Cawton (15) so these were probably employees (the 1841 census did not have "relationship to head"). [6].
In June 1846 he was an Inn Keeper at Masham, Yorkshire, England.[7].
In 1851 he was the inn keeper at the Lord Nelson, Market Place, Masham, Yorkshire, England living there with his wife and six children[1].
