Both John Sr. and John Jr. 's gravestones are included in find a grave. John Hammond is a place holder between Lucy Hammond Vaughn and Capt Samuel Hammond and his wife, Mary E Jenkins. Jenkins cannot be his mother given his birth date and her age, nor was he mentioned in Samuel's will. There probably there is another generation in here. Additionally, there is no direct evidence that Lucy is John Hammond, Sr's child. However, I dna match a bunch of cousins on this line. More research to follow.
