HAMPSHIRE-McNAUGHT.[3]
A very pretty wedding took place at the Goldsmith-street Methodist Church on Monday evening, when Miss Olive Edna Hampshire, fourth daughter of Mr. and Mrs. E. K. Hampshire, of Bradley-street, was married to Mr. Archibald McNaught, son of Mr James McNaught, of Bourke-street. The church had been nicely decorated by the friends of the bride, and the ceremony was performed by the Rev. J. H. Lewin. The bride, who was given away by her father, wore cream crepe merle, trimmed with silk lace and all-over net. She carried also a beautiful bouquet of lilies of the valley, with horseshoes of ribbon suspended, the gift of the bridegroom. The bridesmaids were Miss Ella Hampshire and Miss Nellie Hampshire, sisters of the bride. They were costumed in white shower of hail muslin, with black net hats, trimmed with pale pink. They also carried pale pink bouquets. The best man was Mr. Joseph Hampshire, while Mr. Cecil Ayling was groomsman. The bridegroom's gift to the bride was a diamond ring, while to the first brides maid he gave a pearl pendant and to the second a pearl brooch. Mr. F. Palmer officiated at the organ, while Mr. J. C. Cocks sang with pleasing tenor voice "Beloved, It Is Morn." At the conclusion of the ceremony a reception was held in the lecture hall, where nearly 40 relatives and immediate friends of the contracting parties sat down to breakfast, presided over by Rev. J. H. Lewin. The honeymoon will be spent at the Blue Mountains and on the South Coast. The bride's travelling dress was braided prunella, with mole and prunella hat. The future home of Mr. and Mrs. McNaught will be Goulburn. A large number of valuable presents were received.
