Thomas Hampton was in Sandwich by March 21, 1637/8, when he made his will.[1] He died before September 4, 1638 when a witness of his will was deposed to court.[2]
The family of Thomas Hampton is unknown. He made no mention of wife, children, or any family relation in his 1638 will.
Thomas Hampton of Sandwich wrote his will March 21, 1637[/8],[1][3] and two of the witnesses were deposed to court: William Harlow on September 4, 1638,[2] and William Leverich on March 5, 1638/9.[4][5] Thomas did not make mention of any familial relations, but did leave to a number of individuals:[1] [6]
He had a number of items in his estate in the hands of others, including a Mr Freeman, Thomas Tupper, William Hurst, George Cole, Richard Beekly, Mr Dillingham, John Kirman, and Edward Morrell. He also had debts to a Mr Fosbrook, the "goatekeeper of Saugust", John Wing, Mr Freeman, and Georg Ruchman.
He made Thomas Tupper, Peter Gaunt, Richard Kerby, and Thomas Shillingworth his executors. The will was witnessed by William Leverich, Peter Gaunt, and William Harlowe.
Perhaps based on the above will, it has been claimed without further source that both Lydia, the wife of Peter Gaunt, and Joane, the wife of Thomas Chillingworth, were both Hamptons.
