Arild was an author.
He was born 5 May 1914 in Hamorøy, Nordland, Norway. He was the son of Knut Hamsun and Marie Andersen.[1] He was baptized 26 July 1914 at Hamarøy.[2]
During World War II, Arild joined the Waffen S.S. and served as a war correspondent. In 1943, he was awarded the German Iron Cross in recognition of his bravery. After the war, Arild was imprisoned for 18 months as punishment for involvement with the German military. After his father's death, he owned and managed the home farm Nørholm.[3]
He passed away 16 March 1988 at his home.
