Biography

George was born in England in 1805. His parents were William Hancock and Grace Hancock (birth surname unknown).

He was christened at Saint Cleer, Cornwall, England on August 14, 1805.^[1]

He married Julia Shortall at Maitland in 1855.^[2] The district shown on their marriage record in the New South Wales BDM was shown as LK. This was an early New South Wales church code for the roman Catholic parishes of East Maitland; Maitland and West Maitland.^{[3] [4]}

They had at least 3 children.

Their marriage ended before 1860.

He passed away at Coonabarabran in 1885.^[5]
