ELEANOR "Nellie" "Nelly" HANCOCK was born in 1772. She was the daughter of William Hancock and Jemima Brockman.

Eleanor married her first cousin, James N. Hancock of Hanover County, Virginia. James was s/o Austin Hancock & Ann Nuckolls/Nuckolds of Louisa County, Virginia.

October 10th 1805, In ___ to marry my daughter Elender [Eleanor] Hancock to James Hancock and you will oblige --- William Hancock. Witnesses: Wm. Chapman, William Armstrong, Edward Harris
Know all men by these presents that we James Hancock and Wm. Armstrong are held and firmly bound unto John Page, Governor of the Commonwealth of Virginia, in the sum of one hundred and fifty dollars to which payment will and truly to be made to the said Governor and his successors for the use of the commonwealth we bind ourselves and each of us and each of our heirs, executors and administrators jointly and severally firmly by these presents sealed with our seal and dated this 11th day of October 1805 in the year of the commonwealth the condition of the above obligation is such that whereas there is a marriage intended shortly to be had and solemnized between the above bounded Jas. Hancock and Eliner [Eleanor] Hancock of Orange County. Now if there is no lawful cause to obstruct the said marriage then this obligation to be void else to remain in full force and virtue.
