↑ Highway 69 crash claims one life

GEORGIAN BAY TWP. - A Niagara Region woman was killed in collision on Highway 69/400 early this week. On August 24, shortly after 4 p.m., Bracebridge OPP responded to a two-vehicle collision on Highway 69/400 at Twelve Mile Bay Road, just south of the Moon River bridge. The driver of a northbound sedan was attempting to pass a vehicle waiting to make a left had turn onto Twelve Mile Bay Road. The passing vehicle entered the southbound lanes and was hit head-on by a van. Succumbed to injuries The driver of the car was flown to Sunnybrook Hospital in Toronto, but succumbed to her injuries. She was the sole occupant in the car. Three occupants of the van were taken to West Parry Sound Health Centre. They were all treated and released. Dead is Vera Pietracupa, 61, of St. Catherines. Police closed Highway 69/400 for several hours while the investigation was taking place.
