Biography

Joseph was born about 1752. He was the son of Daniel Hankins and Hannah Clift.

Joseph Hankins was listed on the Tax List of Roane County, Tennessee 10 May 1808. Free Holders in Capt Wallace's Company. [1]

Joseph Hankins married first Sarah Jane Hankins (1766–1813) in 1785 in South Carolina or 1786 in Virginia. Their children were:

  1. James Lemuel Hankins (1788–1850)
  2. Sarah Rhea Hankins (1790–1876)
  3. Joseph Hankins (1790–1863)
  4. Ann Hankins (1794–1860)
  5. Ladocia "Dicey" Hankins (1796– )
  6. George Washington Hankins (1800– )
  7. Ladocia Minerva Hankins (1805–1886)
  8. Elizabeth Hankins (1807– )
  9. John Smith T. Hankins

Joseph Hankins married second Keziah Fuller Reynolds (1773–1853). Bond dated 27 March 1817. Bondsman John Burris. Marriage performed by Thomas McMullin, J.P., 10 April 1817 Roane County, Tennessee. [2]

Joseph Hankins passed away about 1822. Inventory was dated 28 January 1823, Roane County, Tennessee. [3]

Keziah Fuller married first Jethro Reynolds and then Joseph Hankins. [4]

Keziah Fuller's first husband Jethro Reynolds was killed in Nov 1813 (War of 1812) and they were living in Tennessee at that time with 11 children. Keziah then married Joseph Hankins, Sr. in Roane Co. TN. There are guardianship papers dated 1819-1821 where Joseph was made guardian of 7 of Keziah's children who were still home. Joseph Hankins, Sr. and Keziah Fullar Reynolds had no children together. It was the second marriage for Joseph Hankins, Sr. also. [5]

Joseph was born in 1752. He passed away in 1822.

Hankins-530 and Hankins-619 appear to represent the same person because: Bio text of both profiles makes clear these two are the same individual. Second spouse is, however, still a question. Suggest a Pruitt be sought, as Fuller doesn't work date-wise.
