Biography

Susannah was born in 1787. She was the daughter of Joseph Hankinson and Hannah Goble. She passed away in 1884.

Susannah inherited Lot #3 in the partition of her father's, Joseph Hankinson, land.

This Indenture made the twenty fifth day of August in the year of our Lord Eighteen seven Between William Hankinson and Elenor his wife John Mattison & Margaret his wife Henry J Hankinson and Rebeckah his wife and Susannah Hankinson now all of the township of Newton in the county of Sussex and State of New Jersey of the one part and Simeon Hankinson of the township of Newton in the county of Sussex and State of New Jersey of the of the other part Witnesseth that the said William Hankinson and Elenor his wife John Mattison and Margaret his wife Henry J. Hankinson and Rebeckah his wife & Susannah Hankinson for and in consideration of the form of five Hundred Dollars good and lawful money of the united States to them in hand well and truly paid by the said Simeon Hankinson at and before the Sealing and delivery of these presents the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged and the said William Hankinson & Elenor his wife John Mattison and Margaret his wife Henry J. Hankinson and Rebeckah his wife & Susannah Hankinson therewith fully satisfied contented and paid have given granted bargained and sold aliened enfeoffed conveyed and confirmed and by these presents do give grant bargain sell alien enfeoff convey and confirm to the said Simeon Hankinson and to his heirs and assigns forever---All tract or parcel of Land and premises herein after particularly described situate lying and being in the township of Newton in the county of Sussex and State of New Jersey Butted and Bounded as follows Beginning at a tree on the east and west Jersey line marked as the one hundred and five mile tree and runs thence 1 south eleven degrees East sixteen chains and sixty three links 2 north forty seven degrees east tow chains and sixty eight links 3 north seventy one degrees east twenty eight chains and twenty five links 4 north thirty two degrees west sixteen chains, and ninety nine links 5 south fifty degrees west three chains and fifty links 6 south seventy one degrees west twenty one chains and fifty links to the place of Beginning containing forty six acres and thirty nine hundredths of an acre be the same more or less it being the same land that was assigned and set off to the widow Hannah Hankinson as her right of dower in the Estate of her husband Joseph Hankinson late of the township of Newton aforesaid deceased Together with all and singular the profits privileges, and advantages with the appurtenances to be the same belonging or in any wise appertaining also all the estate right title interest property claim and demand whatsoever of the said William Hankinson and Elenor his wife John Mattison & Margaret his wife Henry J. Hankinson & Rebeckah his wife and Susannah Hankinson of in and to the same and of in and to every part and parcel thereof To have and to hold all and singular the equal undivided six eighths parts or shares of the above described tract or lot of land and premises with the appurtenances unto the said Simeon Hankinson his heirs and assigns forever and the said William Hankinson, John Mattison and Henry J Hankinson and Susannah Hankinson doth for themselves there heirs executors and administrators covenant and grant to and with the said Simeon Hankinson his heirs and assigns that they the said William Hankinson Hankinson & Elenor his wife John Mattison & Margaret his wife Henry J. Hankinson & Rebeckah his wife & Susannah Hankinson have not done caused suffered or procured to be done any act matter or thing whereby the title of the said Simeon Hankinson of in and to the equal undivided six eighth parts or—shares of the above bounded and described land and premises or any part thereof can or maybe changed charged altered or defeated in any way whatever In Witness whereof the said William Hankinson and Eleanor his wife John Mattison & Margaret his wife Henry J. Hankinson and Rebeckah his wife and Susannah Hankinson have hereunto set their hands and seals the day and year first above written signed sealed and delivered in the presence of Jos G. New Jersey, Sussex County Be it remembered that on the twenty eighth day of August 1827 personally appeared before me Jos G. Miller one of the Judges of the court of common pleas in and for said county of Sussex Henry J. Hankinson and Rebeckah his wife and Suzannah Hankinson known to me to be three of the persons named in the within deeds and I having made known to them the contents thereof and did severally acknowledge that they signed sealed & delivered the within instrument as their voluntary act and deed for the uses and purposes therein expressed and the said Rebeckah wife of the said Henry J. Hankinson being by me privately examined separate and apart from her said husband did acknowledge that she signed sealed and delivered the within instrument freely without any fear thereat or compulsion from her said husband. Be it remembered that on the eighth day of September 1827 personally appeared before me Jos G Miller one of the Judges of the Court of Common please in and for said County of Sussex John Mattison known to me to be the grantors named in the within deed and I having made them acquainted with the contents thereof did severally acknowledge that they signed sealed & delivered the within Instrument as their voluntary act and deed for the purposed therein expressed and the said Margarett being by me privately Examined separate and apart from her sd huband did acknowledge that the signed sealed and delivered the same freely and without any threat or compulsion from her said husband. New Jersey Warren County Be it remeberd that on the twelvth day of January Eighteen Hundar and twenty eight Parsenalley appeared before me Job Johnson one of the Judges of the corte of the commen pleas of the said county of Warren Wm Hankison and Ellen Hankison wife of said Wm Handson known to me to be the grantors named in the within deed and I having made them aquainted with the contents hereof did severely acknowledge that they signed sealed and delivered the within instrument as their voluntary act and deed for the purpose therein expressed and the sade Ellen being by me privetly examend separate and apparte seigned seald and delivered the same freely and without any threat or compulsion from her said husband.
