Edithus Hanks married Elizabeth Frances Carver in Milam County, Texas on January 03, 1875, they had one son, James "Jim" Thomas Hanks, Elizabeth is assume to have died during childbirth, he then married Elizabeth's sister, Eliza Parlee Carver in Burleson County, Texas on May 12, 1878. They had seven children: Margaret, Frances, Joseph, Albert, Alfred, Charity, Editus Alton.

Sept 24, 1904 d. Aug 10, 1909 (injured in cyclone and died). E. P m (2) Pearly Carver B. May 30, 1852 d. Dec 29, 1942 moved from Milam Co., to Zephyr in 1906, purchased a farm 5 miles south of Zephyr Jim Hanks lived on the farm for a while before E. P. and Pearly moved there.

June 19, 1931 was m. Sept 27, 1911 to Susie J. Morgan (daug of John Morgan and Eliza Ann Crow), moved to farm in area, Three chn: H.E. Hanks b. and raised at Zephyr, now plumber at BWD m. Mamie Walker, Aleene b. May 8, 1916 (Cem marker list 1913 error) d. April 20, 1929 and Dorothy Lee m. Johnny Bill Smith. 6. May m. Otis Yates (May and daug whom she was visiting, killed in car accident and 7. Alton d. at age 15. There were 29 gr. children, besides Jim's and he had several children. All members of the E.P. Hanks family have passed away as of Sept 27, 1979 .

Joe bought the farm and built a house close to his mother and father so they could live on the place as long as they wanted. They lived on the farm until E. P. passed away. After that Pearly lived around with the children. Soon afterwards, Joe sold the farm moved to Z. and operated a filling station.
