Obituary
"Death at Miller's Forest." The Maitland Daily Mercury (NSW : 1894 - 1939) 3 April 1908: page 4.
The death occurred at Miller's Forest on the 1st inst. of Mr. Patrick Hanley, an old and highly esteemed resident of the Hunter and Williams River districts, who died at the residence of his son, Mr. Timothy Hanley, after an illness of about a fortnight, death being due to a general breakup of the system.
The deceased was a native of Limerick, Ireland, where he was born in 1834.
As a young man he came to New South Wales, and settled in the Hunter district, thence going to the Williams River district, and for 40 years he followed farming pursuits, from which he retired some ten years ago.
About 18 months ago his wife died at Raymond Terrace, after which the old gentleman went to live with his son at Miller's Forest. The only other member of the family living is Mr. William Hanley, also, of Miller's Forest.
The funeral took place on Thursday and was very largely attended, testifying to the respect in which deceased was held. The interment took place in the Roman Catholic cemetery at Raymond Terrace, Father Kiernan officiating. [5]
