Variants: Hanna, Hannah, and Hannay. My paternal line I've traced back to David Hanna (abt. 1734-1803). Believed to have been born in Ireland. Lived in Pennsylvania. Possibly had brothers, John and Adam. Believed to be descendants of Hannahs from Sorbie Castle, Scotland.
Most of my ancestors were very early settlers of Pennsylvania. Some were Scotch-Irish and some were German and Swiss.
My maternal iine. My great grandfather, Daniel Shires, was born in Mauch Chunk, Carbon County, Pennsylvania 19 Jun 1832. His father was Christian Shires married to Margarette Washburn (1797-1880), but I don't have any information on Christian except his name.

DNA Tested
Mark Hanna's DNA has been tested for genealogical purposes. It may be possible to confirm family relationships by comparing test results with Mark or other carriers of his ancestors' Y-chromosome or mitochondrial DNA. It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share DNA with Mark:
