John Hannan was born in Manchester, Lancashire, England.

John Edward Hannan was born in 1871 in Manchester, Lancashire, England, the son of Edward Hannan and Elizabeth Murray.

In 1871 John was living with his parents and older sister in Gorton, Lancashire. His father was a machine fitter. [1]

The family moved to Warrington, Lancashire in about 1876.

In 1881 John was living in Furness Street, Warrington with his parents and 5 siblings. His father was now a railway signal fitter. [2]

John's father died and in 1891 John was living on Garden Row, off Cockhedge Lane, Warrington with his mother and 4 younger siblings. He was a leather roller. [3]

When John was about 26 he married Clara Richards in 1897 in Warrington. [4]

The couple had at least 3 children. [5]

In 1901 John was living at 139 Sankey Street, Warrington. He was an assistant manager at a bakery. He was living with his wife and 2 year old son; his mother; and 2 sisters in law. [6]

In 1911 John was living at 36 Parker Street, Warrington from where he ran a baker/confectionery business. His wife, sister in law and oldest son were all helping in the business. They had two younger children and a servant. [5]

John's son Harry Hannan died aged 7 in 1916 after being knocked over by a taxi.

John died aged 68 [7] on 27 December 1938 in living at 36 Parker Street, Warrington. [8] He was buried in Warrington Cemetery. [9]
