Sergent John Hannigan Company K, 13th enlisted at Boston, Massachusetts, 14 Oct 1861 to serve 3 years; was born in Limerick, Ireland, is 34 years of age, by occupation a spinner. During the last 2 months the soldier has been unfit for duty because of gunshot would of right arm at the battle of Fredericksburg, VA, disability 1/3 and wishes to be discharged 25 Jan 1864 [1]

John Hannigan on 29 Mar 1864 aged 35 years, a resident of Lawrence, Essex, Massachusetts, enlisted at Boston on 14 Oct 1861 as Sergeant Company D 28th Massachusetts and was discharged on 2 Feb 1864, received wound - a gunshot or shell in the right arm severing the cords and crippling the arm rendering it useless received in action at the battle of Fredericksburg VA 13 Dec 1862. [pg 33]
