According to household records, Maja Hansdotter was born in Gunnilbo in 1752. This is the last year before the long gap in the ministerial books for Gunnilbo - but she does not seem to be there.
Artillery soldier Johan Fogel in Prästgården married Maja Hansdotter in Västansjö 26 December 1779.[1] They had a son, Jan in December 1780.[2] He died in infancy - there was a second Jan in 1784. There was a Stina in June 1782.[3] She also died infancy; there was a second Stina in 1786.
The couple lived first in Västansjö.[4] Then they lived in Gillbo. From there they moved to Ramnäs in 1790 with two children. One or two children had died in infancy.[5] Artillerist Johan Fogel lived in Ustransbo with his family.[6]
Widow Maja Hansdotter died 16 March 1837, survived by three daughters.[7]
Maid Maja Hansdotter in Vreten appeared as christening witness for a child in Vreten 6 November 1776.[8] In Vreten at that time we have Hans Andersson and his wife Brita Gjertsdotter. We have yet to find a daughter Maria in their household - but a sum of nine children is mentioned in Hans' obit, whereas we have only counted eight in the household records. Number nine has been found ant it wasn't Maja.
Johan Hansson in Knäppmora was a christening witness for Maja's daughter Stina in 1786.[9] His parents were Hans Jansson and Sara Gustavsdotter. So there is more than one possible Hans in her circles.
