Biography

Vachel was born in 1848. He passed away in 1916.

Research Notes

The 1850 and 1860 census has him listed as a female with the name Rachel. This is an error because there was no Rachel. His parents Rebecca Wiley and Jim Hanson are both listed on his death certificate and the descendants of Jim and Rebecca are DNA matches with the descendants of Vachel. He was first married to Nancy Elizabeth Carden and after she died he was married to a Mollie Brown. From a cousin, I was told the second marriage didn't last very long because he and Mollie Brown didn't get along. He is buried in Kentuckytown Cemetery in Whitewright, Texas.
