Biography

Note: Took this from his birth record but later found this info: Hansine was born in Norway in 1875. Arthur and Hansine came to Canada in 1900 and brought their daughter Helmine with them. Will be putting Hansine's gravestone picture on here which is proof she existed! Hurrah

• • • • unsure what to do here -this woman was born as "Hansine Marie Hansdaughter" but am presuming her faber's name was Hanson as she is shown on her son's birth certificate in Canada as Hanson - her maiden name. Just heard from Dorothy and she informed me that: "My grandma, Hansine was born on August 24 th and passed away April 19, 1967".

(1940, she moved to Erickson and in 1948, she sold her farm to Steve Marchischuk. She was very active for many years. On April 19, 1967, she passed away and is buried at Bethel Church Cemetery. believe it is Harsine Marie.?? This graveyard is known as the Danvers Cemetery. Apparently, from her granddaughter , Dorothy, "The day she passed away she was cleaning the dormer windows in her house."

Emil and Hansine had six children:

Helmine was born on May 12, 1898, at Kjar­ ringnesdalen, Sigerfjord, Norway. She came to Canada with her parents in 1900. She was one of the first pupils to attend school at Erickson, which was on the SW 4-18- 18W, the August Bergwall farm, later to the school built in 1906. Helmine was a member of the Lutheran Church and active in church activities. On April 30, 1917, she married Peter "P .K. " Peterson at the Bethlehem Lutheran Church. (refer to Peterson, Peter and Helmine).

Ida was born on January 14, 1903, at the farm home and attended Erickson School. She helped on the home farm till 1920, when she married Arvid Ullberg. (refer to Ullberg, Ivar and Hedda).

Edward (refer to Bergeson, Edward and Violet). Arthur (refer to Bergeson, Arthur and Ivy).

Thora was born on February 28,1911, at Neepawa and received her education at Erickson School. She worked at home on the farm till November 20, 1933, when she married Ernest Lofgren. (refer to Lofgren, Ernest and Thora).

Ragnar (refer to Bergeson, Ragnar and Bertha).

BERGESON, EDWARD AND VIOLET

Edward was born on August 31, 1906, at Danvers, son of Emil and Hansine Bergeson, and attended Erickson school. He worked at various jobs, farm work, trucking and also with Winslow Construction on No.5 Highway and Tomlinson Construction at Souris and The Pas. He then worked on the Fort Nelson Airport and the Alaska Highway, sawmill work at Erickson and British Columbia, and dray man at Erickson for some years. On February 14, 1970, he married Violet Busted of Min­ nedosa, Manitoba.

Violet is presently in the Personal Care Home at Minnedosa. Ed resides at Minnedosa.
