Edward Hanson was born about 1816 in Canada. His birth record has not been found, but he is known from the 1850 U.S. census record and records of his children. 1850 U.S. Census Massachusetts, Norfolk, Randolph, Page 78, Lines 41-42: [1] The children are on the next page: Edward Hanson, 4; Mary J. 2; Catherine, 2 months. There are also four unknown men living in the same dwelling. It does not say they are boarders. [2] Census Date: Sept. 12, 1850.
Edward Hanson married Maria Dwyer before 1845 as that is when their first known child was born. Maria was an Irish immigrant and she had four known children with Edward between1845 - 1854. There were two boys and two girls, but one daughter died as an infant.
He passed away before March, 1856 as his wife married again to Louis Labossiere. Maria Dwyer's surviving daughter, Mary J. is with them in the 1865 census. The two boys are old enough and have left home.
