Biography

Orville Patrick "Dick" Hanson was born in Cedar Grove, West Virginia on November 2, 1910 to Rev. Robert and Alice Hudnall Hanson. He was the fourth of nine children born to the couple.

Dick was raised in Cedar Grove, West Virginia but by the time he was 18, the family had moved to Glasgow, West Virginia. Dick worked as a coal loader in the local coal mines.

On July 4, 1934 Dick married Connie Tucker. The couple settled in Cabin Creek, West Virginia and had three known children, a son and two daughters. His younger brother married his younger sister-in-law.

At some point, Orville and Connie moved to Columbiana County, Ohio.

Dick died in Salem, Ohio on November 22, 1998. He was 78 years old. He is buried alongside his wife in Columbiana Cemetery in Columbiana, Ohio.
