Biography

Date of birth from the Military Records, which are consistent. The records are inconsistent as to whether Chester's actual place of birth was in Pennsylvania or Maryland. Except for his time in military service, Chester appears to have lived his entire life in the small region where the counties of Adams and Franklin in Pennsylvania and the counties of Frederick and Washington in Maryland are all within a stone's throw of each other. The place names shown in the records may not necessarily identify exact or accurate locations. For place of birth, we used the location shown in census records for Chester's parents during his childhood.

We found no record of Chester's second marriage to Thelma, and the date shown for that marriage is from Thelma's obituary.
