John was the second son born of James Harcourt and Lucy Vernon and went to Melbourne Australia where he entered the Methodist Ministry. He became an important Wesleyan in Melbourne and Tasmania and established several Methodist churches in Melbourne. John was born 1817 and died 1893. He married the daughter of the Rev. Nathaniel Turner also a noted missionary Wesleyan in Tasmania and other parts of the region. He had ten sons and daughters and has many present day descendants in Australia. [1]
