When I was a little girl, I would ask my grandfather Hardee, "who are we kin to". He would just laugh and tell me that he had found me under a collar leaf. His answer only made me ask more questions. Then my father, Ernest Hardee purchase a copy of The Hardees of Horry by B. Otis Prince of Columbia, SC printed 1961. I must have read that book a hundred times. As I grew up and started working, I was blessed to be employed by Horry County Government, located in Conway, SC. I started out at the Horry County Museum and later transferred to the Horry County Register of Deeds. I am now retired and researching my family history. William Hardee, Senior born 1756 and died 18 August 1827 was my 5th great grandfather. He had served in the Revolution, along with his brother Joseph Hardee. I am proud to have come from this line of men. Now, I am finding the lost branches that goes with our family tree. My dream is to find them all and graft them into our family tree.
