He signed a will on 26 Apr 1817 in Bryan County, GA, leaving bequests to his wife Mrs. Rebecca Harden, his children Charles H. Harden, Charles H. Harden, Henry Harden, and Rebecca Eliza Harden, and to his nephew White Eberson Harden. John I. Jenkins, Geo. M. Waters, J.I.C.B.C., and Henry Austin acted as witnesses.
State of Georgia:
Bryan County.
In the name of God- Amen!
I, Henry Harden, of the County and State aforesaid, do make and ordain this to be my last will and testament.
Item. I give and bequeath to my wife, Mrs. Rebecca Harden, one undivided third part of a tract of land situate, lying and being in Prince William's Parish, and State of South Carolina, to her and her heirs forever.
Item. It is my will and desire that the tract of land on which I now reside be run out as soon as practicable, and that the same be held and occupied as a home for my family as joint tenants.
Item. I give and bequeath to my wife, Mrs. Rebecca Harden, the folowing negro slaves, known and distinguished by the names of Long Peter, Short Peter, Phyllis, Venus, Juba and Simon, together with the future issue and increase of the aforesaid female slaves, to her and her heirs forever.
Item. It is my will and desire that the rest and residue of slaves that I may be in possession of at the time of my death be kept and Worked together to the best advantage for the support of my aforesaid wife, and also the support and education of my children, Charles H. Harden [sic], Henry Harden, and Rebecca Eliza Harden, until my aforesaid children may respectively arrive at age, and then that the said negroes be divided in equal parts between my aforesaid wife and children, my wife to hold and possess her share of such negro slaves for and during her natural life, and then to be divided, share and share alike, among my children.
Item. It is my wish and desire that my stock of cattle be kept for the use and benefit of my family, giving, however, to my Executors [cut off]
same, should they deem it most conductive to the interest of my aforesaid family.
I also will and desire that my household furniture be kept for the use of my wife and children.
Item. It is my earnest desire that my Executors hereinafter named shall take possession of the property now in my possession belonging to my nephew, White Eberson Harden, and work and manage the same to the advantage for the support and education of my aforesaid nephew.
Lastly. I do hereby nominate and appoint my aforesaid wife Executrix to this my last will and testament, and my cousin, Thomas Hutson Harden, as sole executor.
In Witness Whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this 26th day of April, 1817.

I, Henry Harden, do hereby subjoin and make the following codicil to my will: It is my will that the sum of Six Hundred Dollars, with interest from the first day of January, Eighteen Hundred and Eleven, be paid out of my estate to William Richard Ihly on his arriving at the age of twenty-one years.
