Biography

Curtis was born about 1881.^[1] He is the son of Lewis Harden and Emmaline Unknown. Between 1900 and 1910 he married Minnie Jordan and moved into his mother-in-law's house. ^[2] Between 1910 and 1920 Curits and Minnie had moved to Mississippi with Curtis's parents.^[3] At this time Lewis is listed as the head of the household, and also in residence is a 16 year old Earl Harden listed as a grandson which is Curtis's brother Gilford Harden's eldest son Earl from his first wife Sally Prim and not Curtis's son. In fact, in 1930 Curtis is listed as head of household (now in Tennessee), and Earl (now 27) is listed as nephew with his wife Grace.^[4] Moved again by 1940 back to Mississippi by way of Georgia, now just he and Minnie. ^[5]
