The Kentucky birth index lists Vivian R. Hardin, born 15 July 1926 in Rowan Co., mother’s maiden name Pural McKinzie.

The SSDI lists Vivian Profitt, born 15 July 1926, died Mar 1982, last residence Dayton, Montgomery Co., Ohio, SSN issued in Ohio before 1951.

The Ohio death index lists Vivian R. Profitt, age 55, born in Kentucky, died 13 Mar 1982 at OSU Medical Center, Columbus, Franklin Co., Ohio, residence Dayton, Montgomery Co., Ohio, married.

Vivian should be recorded as a Hardin. She is the daughter of Lillian Pearl McKenzie and her first husband Edgar Hardin. (I have not found Pearl in the 1930 census. Edgar is with his parents, recorded as married, but with no wife in the household.)

In 1940 Vivian is with her mother and stepfather Herman Haller, recorded as age Vivian R. Hardin age 13

1940 census of Butler Co., Ohio, Madison township, West Middletown, enumerated 9 April, lists on p. 4A as family #67: Haller, Herman F., 45, butcher at packing house; Pearl L., wife, 32, b. Ky; Hardin, Vivian R., dau, 13, b. Ky.

The 1947 city directory of Middletown, Ohio lists James W. Profitt, employee of ARMCo, with wife Vivian R., saleswoman for Wards, living at 513 Taylor Ave. James’ parents are recorded at the same street address.

Vivian should be recorded as Herman’s stepdaughter; she is Lillian’s daughter from her first marriage.
