Biography

Permilia Hardin was born in 1819. She was the daughter of Bailey Hardin and Jemima Thompson.^[2] She married John Owens Bird in 1840. ^[3] They had several children^{[4] [5] [6] [7]} before she passed away sometime between 1896-1900.^{[8] [9]}She is buried in the Brush Grove Cemetery in Willisburg, Washington County, KY.^[10]

There is another Permelia Hardin, the daughter of William Hardin and Mary Anderson, born 3 Jan. 1818,^[11] who married James Jelf on 4 Jan 1839 in Hendricks, Indiana.^[12]However, she is listed in the 1850 Census in Hendricks Co..^[13]

The bondsman for Permelia's marriage bond was Samuel Hardin, son of Bailey Hardin and Jemima Thompson. Bailey had died some 16 years earlier.

She is enumerated in census records as "Millie" ^[14][15] and "Millia."^[16]
