Biography

Jasper Jesse Harding was born October 13, 1788, the son of Jesse Harding and Elizabeth Hanson, who settled in Little Port L'Hebert, Shelburne County, Nova Scotia^{[1] [2]}

On May 15, 1817, he married Margaret McMillan, the daughter of John McMillan and Mary Hewitt Pride of Louis Head^[3]. Their children included:

1. John Byron, born 1818, who married Alice Perice, and then married a widow Catherine (Wright) Aberdeen,, daughter of Charles Wright and Lydia Bangs, and widow of John Aberdeen^[4]
2. Margaret Ann, born 1822, who married Stephen Pierce, son of James Pierce and Martha Hewitt and who died in 1878^[5]
3. Allen McMillan, born 1823, who married Sarah Peterson in 1857^[6]
4. Possibly Mariah Morris, possibly born 1825
5. Malvena A, born 1827, who married Robert Lewis and who died in 1869^[7]
6. Irene Harding, born 1829, who married James Nunn Holden, the son of Thomas Holden and Mary Baldwin^[8]
7. Keziah, born 1831, who married Whitman Harlow, the son of James Harlow and Olivia Chadsey^[9]
8. Possibly David, possibly born 1833, and who may have died in 1841
9. Dorinda, born circa 1840, who married Peter Benjamin Zwicker, son of George and Catherine Zwicker of Jordan Falls^[10]
10. Jemima Harding, who married Foster Page^[11] and then married Elijah Minard^[12]

Jesse Harding died on December 25, 1869 at the age of 82 in Jones' Harbour^[13]
