Note

Note: #H540

Israel Harding was the son of Col Israel Harding and Sarah Harris, New England Planters who settled in Horton, Nova Scotia in 1761[1] [2]

In online trees, he is sometimes confused with his father, and with his nephew, who was born in 1801 and who married Elizabeth Flint. It may be difficult to separate these men in census and other records[3]. However these two records are likely Israel and Rachel, as his occupation was trader (his father was a farmer), and the children noted are too old to be his nephew's[4]

[5]

In 1800, Israel Harding married Rachel Fowler, of White Plains NY[6] [1], and they settled in Yarmouth, Nova Scotia. Their children included:

  1. Israel, who died in a fall from a horse in 1820, unmarried[1]
  2. Abigail Ward, who married James Moody, son of John on April 23, 1821[1]
  3. Sarah Rachel, born August 20, 1805, who married Elisha Moody, son of John[1]
