Winfield was born in 1853. He was the son of Thomas Harding and Julia Smith.
He served in the Civil War in the 185th Regiment of Ohio Volunteers. [1]
He passed away in 1871 and is buried at Spring Vale Cemetery in Lafayette, Indiana. [2]
