She was enumerated in the 1901 census as a seven year old residing with her parents and three siblings at Renishaw Park Colliery, Eckington. Her father was a "Colliery Carter". The family relocated to Doncaster, Yorkshire. Sarah appeared in the 1911 census as a seventeen year old "Domestic Servant General" in the household of Clement and Jessie Gatley, Kirkley Villas, Adwick Le Street Near Doncaster.
Sarah married Haydn Sedgwick in 1914. the marriage was registered in the fourth quarter in Doncaster. It appears the couple had at least two children. Sarah and Haydn appeared in the 1939 Register residing at 16 Ridge Back Lane, Adwick-le-Street, Yorkshire (West Riding). Her occupation "Unpaid Domestic Duties". Haydn was a "Colliery Hewer (Incapacitated)". One child, Joan, born 1923 listed. One redacted entry at address. (Note...a John M. Harding, born 1914 also at residence).
Sarah passed away in 1951. Her death was registered in the fourth quarter in Doncaster.
