Biography

George Hardy was of Newbury, MA in 1678, when at age 17, he took the oath of allegiance. (p. 181) [1]

In August, 1688, George Hardee was on the tax list for the inhabitants of Newbury. His assessment was for the following:

Heads 1 : Houses 1: Plow Lands 6: Meadow 0: Pasture 0: Horses 0: 2 yr old 0: 1 yr old 0: Oxen 2 : Cows 4: 2 yr old 0: 1 yr old 0: Sheep 6 : Hogs 1 (p. 205) [1]

George Hardy married Mary Fogg November 24, 1686 in Newbury, Massachusetts. [2] His wife Mary was born at Hampton on May 1, 1662, daughter of Samuel and Anne (Shaw) Fogg. (p. 317)[3] (p. 12013)[4]

They had one child, daughter Mary born at Newbury on Feb. 2, 1692/3. [2]

George died at Newbury on Dec. 6, 1694. [2]

The inventory of his estate was taken Jan. 9, 1694/5, and attested to by his widow Mary Hardy. (p. 2) On Sept. 26, 1695 in the division of his estate, one third went to his widow Mary and two thirds to their only child, Mary aged about 3. (p. 10)[5]

After his death his widow Mary married Benjamin Poor on April 13, 1696. [2]

On Sept. 26, 1717, Joseph Lowell, husband of Mary, daughter of George Hardy, signed a document, releasing of Benjamin Poor, of any further obligation relating to the estate of George Hardy, widow Mary Hardy executrix, later wife of said Benjamin Poor. (p. 4)[5]

Child

Mary born at Newbury on Feb. 2, 1692/3; married at Newbury Joseph Lowle/Lowell, intentions published Dec. 6, 1707. [2] Joseph was born Sept. 12, 1680, son of Benjamin and Ruth (Woodman) Lowell. Widow Mary Lowel made her will April 8, 1753, which was proved on May 14, 1643. [6]

Hardy-2290 and Hardy-1215 appear to represent the same person because: Same spouse (merge pending to LNAB of Fogg), same death year. No other information to go on in -2290. No sources on -2290 showing birth year/place. Please merge.
